Series on Lorenzo Snow's homes in Brigham City "Cotton Thomas Home"

Updated: Jan 21

A home/store/hotel/stage line stop was built in Brigham City by William P. "Cotton" Thomas in 1858. This location eventually became the first store of the Co op and was purchased by Lorenzo Snow (Cotton Thomas eventually left and settled Park Valley.). Lorenzo's first wife (though he was never a monogamist) was Mary Adeline Goddard. Adeline, as she was known, brought three children from a previous marriage. She and Phebe Amelia Woodruff (Wilford Woodruff's daughter) lived in the Cotton Thomas home in 1885.

Adeline and Lorenzo's son, Oliver Goddard Snow, became the stake president in 1877, succeeding his father, after the stake was officially organized by Brigham Young. He also established and was president of the Bank of Brigham City for a time.

One of Phebe and Lorenzo's sons, Orion Woodruff Snow, practiced dentistry in Brigham, at one point, and had his office on the third floor of the (current) Wells Fargo building.
