Brigham City and the Liberty Bell

According to the website https://www.ushistory.org/libertybell/photos.html  "In 1915, 500,000 schoolchildren signed a petition asking the city of Philadelphia to send the Liberty Bell to the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of San Francisco. Philadelphia complied, and so the world's most famous symbol of liberty began its one and only tour of the nation."

That tour reached Brigham City on Sunday, July 11, 1915. Mayor William Thomas Davis had been able to persuade railroad officials to hold the train for 5 minutes so people could see the famous bell.

The bell was placed on a "specially constructed flat car" so people could see it throughout its journey. Lights were also installed so it would be illuminated for those by whom it passed in the night.
