Two multigenerational family businesses began at this building. The flouring mill, designed by Frederick Kesler, was the first industrial building in Brigham City and was built 1855-56. It also became the origination point for the city as they measured the original 4X8 block Plat A from this point. It also served as a "fort" with a stone wall that went west and south from its location. Mads C. Jensen worked at this mill until the water supply became inadequate and a new roller mill was built near the mouth of Box Elder Canyon.
John H. Bott later bought the abandoned mill to continue his monument company.
The Brigham City Roller Mills eventually split into two companies with the Jensen brothers organizing the Jensen Brothers Milling and Elevator Company in 1909. After securing property just south of where the Cooley Memorial Hospital stands, the Jensen brothers changed their mind and bought property on west Forest Street where descendants still run the mill.
The original roller mill eventually burned down and stood near the location of Mayor's Pond.
