Historic Business: Ford in Brigham City

With the changes in locations of some of our car dealerships, we thought it may be fun to look back at some of the dealerships of the past. We would love to hear the stories or any information that you may have about these pictures and places. This article will focus on Ford in Brigham City.

One major contributor was Glenn Andersen. Glenn started working for Peach Motors as a young man and took over the agency in 1943, naming it Andersen’s Ford Inc. He later moved the business from Forest Street to Main Street between 300 and 400 South. He ran a very successful business and also contributed much of his time and means to Brigham City throughout his life.

Some of the Ford dealers included Canfield Ford (circa 1912), Ford Garage (circa 1915), Stewart Motor Company (circa 1916), Box Elder Motor Auto Company (circa 1916), Peach Motor Company, Hansen Motor Car (that stood where the City Hall is currently and later sold Chevrolet-they sold Ford circa 1921), Economy Auto (circa 1937), and Andersen Ford (circa 1943).

Please enjoy the pictures and add any insights that you may have. Thanks!

While this photo guesses that it is of Bruce Somers, we believe it is actually Parley Hans Rasmussen who delivered mail in Brigham City and surrounding area until he was injured in a car accident in Sardine Canyon that ultimately led to his death in 1944. Taken from the site earlyfordv8victoria.com
